The Classic Oscar Look
Share
Last Sunday, many of us stayed up late to tune in to watch the 87th Academy Awards. On this most prestigious of evenings, we lay witness to some of the most outstanding beauty transformations modelled by our favourite stars. In honour of this glamorous occasion, we have decided to treat you to some special style tips on how to recreate some of those classic Oscars looks.
First, let’s look back to the bygone days of old Hollywood glam. Any look that manages to catch the eye of a prince seems noteworthy to say the least, and so where better to begin our Oscar beauty tips than with one of the all-time beauties, Grace Kelly? 60 years on and we’re still envious of her flawless complexion that radiated on both the big screen and the red carpet. If, like Grace, you are very fair, you should opt to use products that offer SPF protection. We recommend using Ambre Solaire BB Cream Sun Protection SPF30. This wonderful innovation in skincare will provide even coverage with a tinted formula that will enhance your natural radiance.
Back to the red carpet, and it wasn't just Oscars up for grabs this year. Instead, every celeb in town was vying for the title of who could show the most flesh! Nowhere was this more obvious than at the Vanity Fair after party, where we saw the likes of Rita Ora, Jennifer Lopez and Irina Shayk leaving very little to the imagination. We are in no doubt that these ladies spent hours in the gym perfecting their bodies before the big day, but for those of us who lack the time, and more importantly the effort to do so, let us offer you a very cunning solution.
Enter Thalgo and their ingenious invention of the Stomach & Waist Sculptor. We all have some unwanted lumps and bumps, so a product that combats these problem areas is, in our eyes, a miracle worker. Designed to reach the deeper layers of the skin, the sculpt active technology could reduce the volume of that pesky abdomen area and leave skin visibly smoother and firmer.
The up-do was a strong contender for our most wanted hairstyle at this year's awards. Julianne Moore, Sienna Miller and Rosamund Pike all looked chic and sophisticated with their sleeked back manes! The key to perfecting this eye-catching look is to tame those fly-always, and it's not as hard as you may think.
Firstly do not overlook the power of a good serum. Bed Head Control Freak Frizz Control is specially formulated to deliver a straight and glossy finish to even the most unabiding of hair! Once you’ve styled it, the next stage is keeping it held in place, whereby our tried and tested answer for a supreme hold is Catwalk Session Series Finishing Hairspray. This fast drying formula is long lasting and will add a red carpet shine without the big price tag.
The term and embodiment ‘blonde bombshell’ was created especially for Cameron Diaz, who is a hot favourite on the red carpet. The tanned beauty is famed for her ever-changing hairstyles, and the 2010 awards in particular still inspire us today. Pulling her light blonde locks back to the side with soft, delicate curls, her look optimised the tinsel town style of her Oscar predecessors. To master this curly blowout style, you will need to apply a little heat, however not too much as this can cause your hair to dry out. To prevent this from happening, I recommend Catwalk Sleek Mystique Blow Out Balm, which provides intense thermal protection while leaving your hair with a glossy shine and a guaranteed Oscar worthy glow!
After recollecting some of our favourite Academy Award moments, I hope you’re feeling inspired to recreate that perfect Oscar look for a night on the town this weekend. You'll be looking like a star in no time!
